October 1, 2008WE HONOR SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI
Lord, with love and compassion,
watch over our pets and all animals.
Keep them in good health.
Guard them against trouble.
May the wisdom of Saint Francis
and our love for these animals
deepen our respect for all your creation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
From the desk of Donna Kruszona, Principal:
Saint Francis worked for the poor. He tried to bring peace, and he showed great love for all of God’s creatures. In honor of his feast day, October 4th, Friday, at 11:30 we will gather on the blacktop by the basketball courts for a Blessing of the Animals. Any parents who would like to bring their students’ pet at that time are welcome to do so. This is just prior to dismissal.
Gerardy Photography will take individual school pictures on Tuesday, October 7th. This will be an optional non-uniform dress day. Shirts with collars are required for boys. This is a reminder to the girls that clothing must be modest. Tank tops, halter tops, bare midriffs, plunging necklines, cut-offs and short shorts are not permitted. Students may wear nice jeans. If you are unsure of what exactly non-uniform dress is, please refer to the second to the last page of your handbook/calendar. Of course, uniforms are always appropriate.
PLEASE NOTE THIS ADDRESS for Coastal I.D. Live Scan Center: 1207 Carlsbad Village Drive and the phone number is 760/434-5927. Tomorrow is the final day that Live Scan services will be on campus. If you would like an appointment please call the office. The Diocese is now requiring all volunteers accompanying students off-campus to school sponsored activities (field trips, overnights for grades 4th-8th, after school sports, etc.,) be Live Scanned. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me.
Health Alert: We have had a some cases of strep throat reported. According to one local pediatrician “it is going around”.
Hello everyone,
In this week’s envelope you will find a brochure that you can use to mail to potential golf players, dinner guests, Auction gift donors, and sponsors. It is designed to be tri-folded. (Sorry I ran out of time). People can also sign up on the web site http://www.sjafoundation.org, but they have to pay the PayPal fee for the convenience.
There will be extra brochure’s available at the front counter also. All the forms for the Golf Tournament are now also online at the foundation website. Click on Golf Tournament and then “forms”. The foundation website can also be accessed from St. James Academy’s web site.
Our next golf tournament planning meeting will be this Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. via teleconference. The call in number is 888-387-8686, id #2625686. Please attend if you have time to give to the effort, and gain credit towards your volunteer hours. Looking for photographers on the day of the tournament among other things. We need a lot of assistance, and hopefully representation from new families. If you have any questions or need help getting auction items, golfers or sponsorships, please let me know.
You can reach me at paul@sjafoundation.org, or 760-944-8120.
Thanks. Paul Barton Golf Chair

A huge thank you to Lisa Cooper for once again doing a great job putting together this year’s SJA Directory which is included in this envelope. Class lists in the back of the directory include all students registered at the time of printing. Please remember, this is NOT to be used for any form of solicitation purposes but strictly as a courtesy for Academy families. Extra directories for your car, office or if lost, are available for a $5.00 fee.
